Chak De INDIA!

Watching Chak De... sure did remind me of "Remember the Titans"... I only wish that I had not watched the latter earlier. I feel that such movies are rarely made in apna 'NRI and people-oriented' Bollywood.

Great job, Shimit Amin! Hats off to you! For making SRK pull off a la-Swades act. And keeping the movie going without a moment of boredom. Man! What a man of character! The coach... My favourite parts in the movie were when the team members introduce themselves, and when the coach chides the experienced center-back "Jawab tho tumne khud de diya..." Great moments of cinema, and truly inspiring!

For once, you don't see a game played amateurishly, like one would glimpse in Awwal Number or Chamatkar. Iqbal was a great beginning, and Shimit just takes it much more forward. It is great to see the game being played in quite a high level in a movie, and the direction is very, very focussed, indeed. How easy could it have been for Shimit to let SRK the persona take over and stray the movie away, in the context of the game.

Mir Ranjan Negi, take a bow, for your truly endearing spirit and character. I have tremendous respect for you, and am sure that there are many more Indians like me out there, that get goosebumps at your sheer attitude.

Three more movies on a high league altogether were Rudy, The Invincible, and Remember the Titans.

Oi behen de takke! It's truly "chak de phatte" material; in true Punjabi ishtyle!
