Tomorrowland review - a visual spectacle with a positive affirmation about a hopeful tomorrow...

Tomorrowland - the thing about Disney movies is that it's not just for kids, but it has beautiful messages for adults, too. And yes, there is a kid in each of us. The best thing about the movie, besides its positive affirmation about making positive changes for a better tomorrow, is that it's a visual spectacle... of flying jetpacks, planes and trains from a future world, and more...

Casey, who is considered special for both her scientific abilities and good heart, is chosen in today's times by the recruiter Athena, to uncover secrets of an enigmatic place somewhere in time and space known only as "Tomorrowland". The last person Athena possibly recruited on the mission was Frank Walker, as a kid, back in the '60s. Athena brings in Casey and Frank Walker, now in his sixties (played by the grumpy George Clooney) together to give the Tomorrowland mission another shot... How they go about it, and the challenges they face, forms the rest of the story.

I was immensely impressed by the creativity all through the film. For instance, in the scene where people dive from one swimming pool after another, vertically, where only the water in the pool defies gravity. Or airplanes taking off with an instant thrust. How cool!

The Texas rare collection science memorabilia store action sequence is very well-filmed and entertaining. So are the graphics that are definitely convincing as futuristic. Shot on IMAX, the only thing I missed was 3-D, in the whole scheme of things.

The love story between Frank Walker and Athena is too subtle and could have been shown with more intensity. But that's just an observation, not a complaint.

The rocket launch at the Eiffel Tower and the teleportation scene was very well-shot, too.

Brittany ("Britt") Robertson as Casey Newton (notice the last name - that's how good she is with science) is pretty and easily passes as a teenager; she is good for the most part, but one may wish she displayed more emotions, as she appeared to be constant.

Hugh Laurie plays his role well and is believable as Governer Nix.

Raffey Cassidy is stern and apt for Athena's character.

Watching Clooney, I got nostalgic about his performance in The Descendants. You feel for him, here, too, and he is a natural. I'm a huge fan of the kind of projects (films) that he has been involving with, right from the beginning. Enterprising, to say the least... it's like identifying the Green stocks and investing in them. Or bitcoins! Meaning George Clooney can afford to do that, yes, but what is remarkable is that he doesn't seem to be afraid of taking risks, especially since he is a big star.

When great graphics are mixed with terrific sound, that's like milk and chocolate. Or Gulab Jamoon and Vanilla Ice-Cream... Picture perfect... So, full marks to the sound technicians for the pleasing mix...

The story has a great message. We all speak constantly about the world coming to an end; with fear, despair, negativity, apocalypse, and what not. This one is a welcome change, for it focuses on a positive affirmation - the stuff that subjects like The Secret are made of. While most of us are scared of the world heading towards destruction, mayhem and more, Tomorrowland concentrates on making the future better; about bringing about positive changes in transforming the planet to a better and a safer place, for the generations to come.

I was initially sceptical about watching this movie, but now I'm glad I did.

The futuristic theme sets an interesting premise, and there were moments in the film where I was thought that it had the potential to be turned into a superhero movie. Is anyone listening in Disneyland? :)
