"Tanu weds Manu returns" review - should have released straight to DVD...!

It's four years since Tanu wed Manu and there is no love lost between them, anymore. The constantly bickering couple undergo counselling, in the UK - where they live - and Tanu gets Manu thrown into a mental asylum. That's the last straw for the couple. Tanu takes a break and comes back to her family in Kanpur. Manu is bailed out by his friend Pappi, played by the brilliant Deepak Dobriyal. And guess what? He soon has a lecture to deliver in Delhi (yeah, right! - talk about co-incidence...) and sees Tanu in Kusum (Kangana in a double role). He starts following her and when Kusum realizes that he is not a stalker, but just amazed at her resemblance to his wife, they start developing feelings for one another. This is made very convenient, especially since both Tanu and Manu are considering divorce anyways. Who gets who and what forms the rest of the story.

Kangana Ranaut continues to rock, right from where she left off in Queen. Madhavan holds up on his own, letting his expressions speak more than words. He has always been a joy to watch, just like SRK, when subtle and not over-the-top.

Deepak Dobriyal, Swara Bhaskar and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub play a stellar supporting cast, throughout.

Poor Jimmy Shergill. Sher dil. He is a fine actor that deserves more than just a supporting role. And always letting the hero walk away with the lady in the end. Getting stale now!

There were times when I was reminded of AIB's Honest Indian Weddings.

The music by Krsna Solo is just about okay.

Aanand L Rai shows a lot of promise much as he did in Raanjhanaa, but this is still a stereotypical Hindi film. Trust him or Manish Sharma to show you North Indian shaadis and families with aplomb - and they never disappoint you on that front.

However, I root for the underdog. Isn't Kusum deserving of love? It's like the director conveniently uses that character like a filler in the script.

In the transition scenes, from showing no feelings to total sadness, both Madhavan and Kangana rock!

But neither love story is convincing. It is just filling in the time. Good that the movie is just a two-hour affair. I'd rather reckon it as a weekend watch at home on DVD.
