Thiruttu Payale 2 Tamil film review - A mind-game entertainer that keeps you engaged throughout...

Selvam is in the police department and his job is to tap and trace phone calls. He mixes his scandalous work with what he thinks would be pleasure, by listening in to his wife and friends, too, and things gets both tricky and murkier from there.

It is too decent to be an erotic thriller. Some more spice would have made this Southern Spice spicier.

The three lead actors have given ammmaezing performances.

Prasanna rocks. He also shows off his chiselled bod, though his character keeps getting beaten to pulp time and again, which is not very convincing.

Bobby Simha - I was pleasantly surprised that he could almost match Prasanna. This is the very first time I'm watching him on screen. Watch how he cries.

Amala Paul thankfully has a lot of screen-time and scope to perform, and she doesn't disappoint. This is one pretty woman that can act, too, thankfully.

The theme music by Vidyasagar is catchy enough. And the Achukku Buchukku number could have been avoided, as it is below par.

The director Susi Ganeshan himself plays an interesting cameo, as a detective.

It's a long film, and I was okay with that: for the cat'n'mouse game keeps you engaged throughout and it also has some decent editing and screenplay.

My verdict: 3.25 out of 5. Ganeshan hasn't lost his touch, and one may wish he directs more films, for this gets only better after his first film in this 'series', back in 2006.
